Discovering Scorton Harbor Exhibit

June 15 @ 11:00 am October 19 @ 4:00 pm

View the 2024 Special Exhibit, Discovering Scorton Harbor: The Forgotten Dock & Shipyard on display from June 15-October 19, 2024. Museum hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 11AM-4PM with the last tour beginning at 3:15 PM.

This exhibit focuses on the discovery of archaeological remains of the shipyard that was once at Scorton Harbor, the goods that were shipped in and out of the harbor, and shipbuilding itself.

What makes this exhibit unique is that our curator and historian have the actual account book from the Cedarville neighborhood adjacent to Scorton Creek on display. You can view firsthand what types of goods were important and relevant in the 18th century.

You’ll also see real pine knot torches as well as nails and other wooden remnants.

Viewing this exhibition is included in regular museum admission.
